5. Be creative with the centerpieces. Since you will have a lively table cloth, the flowers should be simple and the vase unique.

6. The cakes are getting smallerr, 2 tier cakes are in.

7. Get creative with the lights, mix and match chandeliers, try twinkle lights on trees, votive candles in vases.

8. Guests always love the photobooth option. The booths are getting bigger for group pictures and decorated for great picture back drops.

9. Stay domestic, stay in the USA. Come to Maine. Your wedding dollars will go far in Maine.

Merryspring Horticultural Center for Weddings

Camden Snow Bowl for Weddings

Snowbowl in Camden

is what the Ragged Mountain recreational area is called. It is a public park of Camden. The ski lodge is at the foot of the mountain and there is a picturesque view of the lake and other surrounding mountains. The Snowbowl is about 4 miles from downtown Camden. It’s a great venue if you’re concerned that your wedding reception might be too disruptive for in the village locations. The Snowbowl’s website has information about renting the lodge facility as well as their chairlift, which gives you some additional interesting possibilities for a wedding or reception, as the view from the top of the mountain is a very nice one. However, it might take a while for everyone to get up there!

Making It Legal, Getting a Marriage License in Maine

Marriage License Requirements for Camden Maine.
Obtaining a marriage license in Maine is not difficult. There is no longer a waiting period and the license is valid for 90 days. You do not have to be a Maine resident to be married in Maine. You must however apply in a Maine town office for the license. For further information on the legal requirements of getting married in Maine go to the Maine state web site.
To obtain a marriage license in Camden Maine:

The Intention of Marriage application fee is Thirty Dollar ($30.00) made payable to the Town of Camden. The license to marry will be valid for 90 days from the application is received. The marriage license can be issued on the same day that the Intention is filed.

Both will need to sign the Original Marriage License in front of the Town Clerk at the Town Office. The Town Office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm.

Photo ID such as a driver’s license may be required.

If this is not the first marriage for one of you, bring a certified copy (raised seal) of the divorce from or death certificate of the last spouse.
Applicants must be over 18 years old. Written parental consent is required for an applicant under 18. Written parental consent and written consent of a judge are required for an applicant under 16.
No blood test is required.
You may want to check with the municipal clerk where you are filing before-hand to find out what that municipality’s policies are.

Vesper Hill Children’s Chappel

Cchildren’s Chappel

the children’s chappel sits on a rock ledge that overlooks the ocean between Camden and Rockport. The road its on continues around Beachamp Point, which is a scenic byway. Just past the moon cows that pasture in the Aldemere farm, the Vesper Hill Children’s Chappel was a gift of Helen Bok, a famous local philanthropist. The chappel itself is a simple Pine structure, with openings on all four sides and views of the water. The spot was once a summer estate and later a hotel called Tamarack Lodge, which was destroyed by fire in 1954. Built in the style of a Swiss chalet, its grounds are open to the public and available for special occasions like weddings, baptisms and memorials. The chapel can seat 50 and the first wedding was held there Sept. 24, 1961.

To reach the chapel, turn onto Calderwood Lane from Russell Avenue in Rockport. Drive past Megunticook Golf Course. On your right you’ll find a driveway marked by a low boulder with the words “Vesper Hill” inscribed on it.

This historic Inn is a wonderful place to host a small inside wedding or a large outside, under the wedding tent wedding. The first wedding here was hosted in 1854 by the ship captain for his daughter. The location of this Inn is across the street from the historic Camden Bok Amphitheater. Many brides choose the Amphitheatre for the wedding ceremony and then have guests walk across for a reception. The catering and service is exceptional.
